English Names for Gen 5 Pokemon!

Well.. just the starters and surprisingly the region's (!) name has been announced. Reshi and Zekrom are the same

there is the link.

while I'm kind of 'meh' over the starter's names... I'm greatly surprised with the changing of Isshu to Unova...

I can't say I like the new names either.

Then again I've been thinking that ever since the second generation which was the first time I heard the original names first, so... I imagine I'll get used to them just like I did in the past.

Tepig. I'm lukewarm towards that pun, but I can see myself warming up to it.

But here's my question. Am I the only one who's reading the otter like, "OSHI-- WOT???"

I am too. It's the main reason why I love the name.

Honestly, these names...I thought they were silly when I first read them, but they're growing on me. My friend pointed out that Snivy's like...what you get when you shove snide and ivy together, and after that I liked the name more too.

As I said above, I'm in love with Mijumaru's English name. It's just awesome to say. Along with Tepig, which is so close to "teh pig".

Unova... It reminds me of a medical procedure. I'm so used to calling Isshu by its Japanese name that it'll take a long while to change to the English.
cheyinka: A Bellsprout (a sapient pitcher plant walking on its roots like legs) surrounded by static. (pokemon)

Is this the first time that a region name has been changed in translation? I liked Isshu much better than Unova.

(I'm meh on the actual starters' names; I'd gotten so used to the various fan names that I'd forgotten that those weren't going to be the real names.)
