Review: "Pokémon Friends"

Pokémon Friends is a game about solving Pokémon-themed puzzles. Unlike previous titles Pokémon Trozei and Pokémon Shuffle, it's not a "match three" kind of game overall; there's a lot of 3D shape matching and identifying, some pattern making, some counting things, some "do things in the right order" kind of stuff. A general mishmash of logic puzzles.

The reviews for the app version are abysmal, probably because the free version of the app has very limited play time. Which is why I went for the whole Switch bundle, and also since I generally like these kinds of puzzles.

( My thoughts )

If you're looking for a good set of puzzle games to chill out to on your Switch, though, you'd probably be better off just buying Those Games.

So I'm trying to look up how to activate it, but even the most recent articles are being cagey about the Mythical Pecha Berry. It's not in the game yet, it's currently unknown how to get it, you can only activate the story when you have it and interact with Peachy's stand, etc, etc.

Has anyone started the story yet (without hacking as so many articles talk about), and how do you get the berry? Is there an update I need to wait for? (It's a quarter to 8am where I am)

EDIT: Berry is available via mystery gift! In case anyone else was wondering.

Customizing Your Character

In the games that let you customize the player character's appearance, how do you usually go about it? Do you choose their clothes and hairstyle at random? Do you try to make them look like yourself in real life? Do you not bother and just stick with a default appearance?

Same for when it comes to naming your character. Do you pick one at random? Do you use your real name? Do you use a default name?

If you've got that problem with the Isle of Armor expansion where the updated Pokédex won't register Pokémon you've brought over via Home, here's a workaround I accidentally found: Drop them off at the breeder's. Once you get them back, they'll register in your 'dex as if you just caught or evolved them. A nice, reasonably simple workaround for the ones you have to trade to evolve, IMO.

(Note: I haven't tried this to see what happens without successfully getting an egg first. Most of them were from lines I needed the first stage of anyway.)

I am literally two Pokémon away from totally completing the 'dex in HOME. I don't suppose anyone has an extra Marshadow and/or Zeraora they'd be willing to trade for something? I've got a fair number of extra legendaries and mythicals, a good number of first gen shinies I can migrate from PoGO (including a shiny Zapdos and Moltres), and some of the rarer Vivillon forms to offer, if any of those appeal. I'm also willing to trade just for data and then trade right back.
