Which are you playing right now?

I just fished out SoulSilver and wiped to start again - I got most of the way through a while back, but I used the Action Replay and had a bunch of cheated pokemon in there, and I want to do a clean run through. (This is where I really wish you could have more than one save per card.)

I'm about 2 hours in, and I've just met Joey and his infamous Rattata...

Which game are you playing? Is it your first go, or a rerun?

I'm actually playing both SoulSilver and Black more or less at the same time, though I'm playing Black more often - it's my first playthrough for both. (I've had SoulSilver almost a year, but I'm stalled before beating Red (because his team is in the 80s and only one of mine is in the 60s) and grinding is aggravating at that level, so I don't feel like playing it as often as I feel like playing Black.)

Yeah, part of why I ended up cheating the first time around was the grinding was driving me nuts. But I was also trying to play while I was stuck offline, so I think it'll be easier this time when it isn't my sole entertainment - I can put it down and go to something else for a while!

How are you finding Black compared to the others? I'm thinking of saving up to get it, is it good?

I'm liking it - it just looks good, the gyms seem more creative than in SoulSilver (though admittedly I never played RSE or DPPt so I don't know if that's been the trend), and the Dream World is fun. I mean, I've got a few gripes^*, but they're minor annoyances, not anything big.

The Dream World seems interesting, I keep hearing snippets.

SoulSilver is more creative than DPPt in my opinion, so it could be a trend. (I played early days on the original Gameboy, but that was forever ago, so I don't remember much!)

I'm currently playing through Pokemon Black, though I am taking a break from it right now. I am also supposedly working on HeartGold, but I'm stuck just before the last Gym Leader. D:

Getting stuck right at the end sucks - what's your team?

Right now my team is a Swinub (level 26), a Quilava (level 35), a Graveler (level 31), a Pidgeotto (level 29), a Staryu (level 26) and an Ampharos (level 41). I'm currently trying to level the Swinub to defeat the dragon-type Pokemon the gym leader has. The other five are part of my regular team.

Do you tend to keep the same ones all the way through? I'm curious about how people play, I tend to switch between quite a few rather than a fixed team.

I tend to build my team as I go, but I do usually have a set grouping of types. I do sometimes swap out Pokemon I got earlier in the game for ones I catch later on if I like them better attack wise. I always have my starter on my final team though. I think it's because I'd rather focus on one team and grind their levels instead of leveling more Pokemon I than I need.

I'm currently playing Pokemon Black. Recently, I finally made it around the map. In a few weeks, I play to play HeartGold to beat the Johto Dex.
