i've just started playing pokemon silver again and was wandering if there is a way to capture an abba, they always seem to teleport :-(

My method usually involved saving near a spot where you could find Abra, saving, and throwing a pokeball at it on my first go. If it failed? turning it off and starting again. Usually only took me 3-4 turns.

You could also get something (faster than Abra) that knows sing/sleep powder/hypnosis/some other put-the-opponent-to-sleep attack and use that. Sleep status makes the probability that a pokéball will work way better.

Luck and tactics. As soc_puppet says, putting Abra to sleep is an invaluable tool if you have a pokemon that can do it, otherwise you're going to just have to keep throwing balls until you catch one. In that situation, it's best to go to the lowest level area to find Abra to increase the chances of success.

And I believe that Abra is available at the Game Corner if you get fed up with it teleporting away.

I think Mean Look should also prevent Abra teleporting if your pokemon's fast enough. Gastly's probably the best bet for that.

Hmm. Baton Pass still works, so I think Teleport might work also, and I don't have a copy of Silver to test.

Mean Look works! I ultimately used that and Hypnosis with my Ghastly since it was one of the fastest who knew a sleep move.
