no it's just the style, there's a proper trailer up now. i get that they were probably trying to tap into the older style from the late 90's/early 00's but it just isn't working for me.
yea i'm pretty sure they were trying to keep this tied really close with ken sugimori's art style (if he isnt an art director for this himself even) for the original games and i can appreciate that, its not THE BEST AMAZING but it has charm to it at least i'd think.
idk it lacks the charm of the original anime to me because the style is obviously meant to be older but it has that clean, HD look of modern anime that just doesn't mesh well imo. it would look better if they at least had more shading.
ah yea ok i get what you mean by that-- i agree it could use shading or something to make it a little less clean. i doubt animes will ever go back in that direction fully tho sadly because its not really the demand.

oh my gosh I might just have to start watching this when/if it comes out in the US. I stopped following the original anime ages ago (sometime back in the Johto saga, when the channels started airing the episodes out-of-order for no reason whatsoever), but man, watching that trailer and hearing the original R/B music was like... wow. I definitely want to watch this.
I...can't connect with it. It looks....I don't know, it doesn't feel like pokemon for me in its appearance o.o I will still probably check it out when it arrives though because yay pokemon.
