pokémon announcement!

for those of you who missed the live stream - nintendo had an important pokémon-related announcement today. here's what it was for!

i didn't want to spoil it for anyone, so i've simply posted a link! o////o

opinions, thoughts? i might have to buy a 3ds now (eyeing the pikachu one right now actually!)

edited to add fun speculation to encourage discussion!

- rumours on starters typing: water/dark, fire/psychic, grass/fighting due to moves used in teaser.
- rosa or a rosa-lookalike can be spotted in the video.
- rollerblades to replace running boots?!
- old pokémon seen in video: mienfoo, pikachu, magikarp, kirlia, golurk, pansear, patrat, litwick, psyduck, sneasel (or weavile, i couldn't tell), audino, dratini. rumours that all or most will be available in the game.
- talk of character customisation.
- new region expected to be inspired by france

So excited! I can't actually watch the videos, but the screencaps at least make it look great. If Fennekin breaks the fire/fighting chain in later evos, I'm going with that because we haven't had a non-fire/fighter introduced since G/S/C; if not, going with Chespin.

there are rumours that it's fire/psychic, which would be excellent! but rumours are rumours~ why can't you watch the videos?

... i still can't figure out what chespin is!

Fire/psychic would be great; new starter type combos in general would be, actually. I'd love another set of dual-type starters.

My computer won't play most online videos. I imagine I could fix that if I really wanted to install the software, but it does help keep distraction potential down when I'm writing or otherwise trying to do something.

... maybe a chipmunk? Not sure. I'm getting a rodent vibe, but no clear animal-of-origin.

I will probably cry with joy if Fennekin breaks the FireFighter starter chain. It's not a bad type combination, but the fact that it's been in three games in a row and 60% of all fire starters? Yeah, I would like to apply for a change.

the fire starters recently haven't appealed to me much but assuming fennekin's evolution line is decent and it's true that it's part psychic, i'll be all over that.

then again... some people are saying fire/ground? so much speculation!

I woudln't've thought they'd do three in a row, and yet, here we are.

Hmm; folkloric-ly, I think fire/psychic (or fire/dark or fire/ghost) makes more sense for a fox-based Pokémon than fire/ground, since foxes are traditionally tricksters in most cultures I'm aware of, but I guess I could see that? I'm personally kinda hoping for fire/poison, but I'm probably alone there.
