pokémon announcement!

for those of you who missed the live stream - nintendo had an important pokémon-related announcement today. here's what it was for!

i didn't want to spoil it for anyone, so i've simply posted a link! o////o

opinions, thoughts? i might have to buy a 3ds now (eyeing the pikachu one right now actually!)

edited to add fun speculation to encourage discussion!

- rumours on starters typing: water/dark, fire/psychic, grass/fighting due to moves used in teaser.
- rosa or a rosa-lookalike can be spotted in the video.
- rollerblades to replace running boots?!
- old pokémon seen in video: mienfoo, pikachu, magikarp, kirlia, golurk, pansear, patrat, litwick, psyduck, sneasel (or weavile, i couldn't tell), audino, dratini. rumours that all or most will be available in the game.
- talk of character customisation.
- new region expected to be inspired by france

Sure, but if I don't already own a 3DS, and the single, solitary, sole advantage one would have over a DSi is that it can play one game, which I wouldn't be able to enjoy to its fullest because I'd be turning an important feature off... why would I want one, if not because a series I generally like were requiring me to do so?

Actually, there are better specs to the 3DS beyond just the 3D capabilities. The graphics are better (even if it is hard to tell with some games - srsly, compare Dream Drop Distance to 358/2 Days or re:coded and there's a VERY big difference) and there's also a lot more space on a 3DS card than a DS one. In fact, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy was on the 3DS as opposed to the DS because of the technical limitations the DS posed. So there are more reasons as to why the 3DS is a separate system beyond just the 3D.

honestly, i've been putting off buying a 3ds solely because none of my must-have series were being released on it but truly it was only a matter of time before pokémon made the switch as well.

i knew i'd have to get one eventually and with monster hunter migrating over, i have even more incentive to upgrade and get to enjoy the apparently improved graphics!

it's good to know the 3d can be turned off though, that's a nice feature for those of us who can't experience 3d without migraines.

lol, I knew from the announcement of the 3DS I'd be getting one because that's also when they announced a KH title for 3DS so I was suckered in right away, ehehe. |D; But I had a feeling we'd be getting main series pokemon games eventually anyway so, it was a good investment for me. :B

And I actually can't play with the 3D on very long either because it messes with my eyes too much and does give me a headache if left on too long - as I learned the hard way with DDD, whoops~ x3 damn me and my stubbornness wanting to play all the way with the 3D on until I cleared the game!
